Membership Matters

Membership Matters

Becoming a member of North Trident Baptist Church

Becoming a member of North Trident is a commitment to Jesus Christ, to the North Trident family, to spiritual growth and discipleship, and to spiritual transformation. Because we believe membership to be meaningful, specific steps must be taken in order to become a member:

MEET WITH THE PASTOR

This is an opportunity for a prospective member to meet with the pastor to share their story of how God has transformed their life and to provide an opportunity to ask any questions concerning North Trident. The meeting is informal and designed to personalize the membership process for both the prospective member and the pastor.

MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

All prospective members are required to attend our Membership Matters class. The curriculum is composed of a four classes that covers our Statement of Faith, Church Covenant, the importance of church membership, our strategy for ministry and life in the church. The class will be held on four consecutive Sunday mornings at 9:45am.

CONGREGATIONAL AFFIRMATION

During our Members' Meetings a recommendation is made by the pastor for the candidate’s membership and followed by church affirmation

NORTH TRIDENT MEMBER'S COVENANT
Having been moved by the Spirit of God to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and on profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now relying solely on God’s divine grace and aid, solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with each other. We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We will walk together in family love, as becomes the members of a Christian Church; exercise an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other, and faithfully admonish and encourage each other unceasingly. We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others. We will endeavor to bring up those under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. And, by a pure and loving example, seek the salvation of others. We will rejoice at each other's happiness and strive with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other's burdens and sorrows. We will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts. Knowing we have been buried in Christ’s death and raised in the likeness of His resurrection, there is now on us a special obligation to lead a new and holy life. We will work together, in this church, for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations. We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we are able to carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
